Presentation Description: Creative Energy is building a zero carbon district energy system for the First Nation led Senakw development near Vancouver BC. The district energy system uses a combination of heat recovery from cooling, wastewater heat recovery, electric boilers and thermal storage to provide zero carbon heating and cooling. In addition to describing the innovative technical solution, the presentation will provide information on how the development is helping to advance economic reconciliation for the Nation.
Case Study: Senakw will be the largest net-zero operational carbon residential project in Canada and is being developed by the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), Nch'ḵaỷ Development Corporation, and OPTrust – under the partnership name Nch'ḵaỷ West. Creative Energy is providing a district energy system for the development which will use a combination of heat pumps for heat recovery from cooling and wastewater (a large municipal sewer), electric boilers and thermal storage to provide zero carbon heating and cooling.
